Rec Therapy Groups December 10 & 13

I had two great group discussions and I wanted to share what my groups came up with from the activities.

The first is from the Anger Iceberg. Anger is a secondary emotion. Often is the result of other emotions/experiences. All of that is under the surface (like the bottom of an iceberg). The top part of the iceberg is our reactions to anger. What do we see when we are angry. After drawing one together, I give the patients their own paper to create their own Anger Iceberg on. After discussing their icebergs, we came up with a list of coping skills to help us manage our anger.

The second one is a mindfulness word cloud. In green are the words used to define/describe what it is. The words in blue are the activities we can do to practice mindfulness. Last the words in red are words to describe how being mindful can help us feel. After creating one together, I let the patients create one of their own and then we discuss them.
