Flat Tire

The day before I was to head back to Ogden, December 7, Carol and I went to Roosevelt. She had some prescriptions to pick up and Mom needed more lights for the tree. Off to Roosevelt we went. We had a pleasant trip. We went to Tractor Supply to find the lights (that's where Mom and I had gone the night before to get some). After that we went to a cute little boutique (that Mom and I also had gone to the day before and I thought Carol would like it). Our last stop was at Jubilee to pick up the prescriptions. We looked at their home decor items before leaving the store.

All was going according to plan. We were just outside of Roosevelt when my tire pressure light came on. My first thought was that it had come on from the change in weather. That's what has happened with all the other cars I have driven. I decided to pay close to attention to see if I was feeling any pulling of the car or any extra bounce. I thought I could feel more of a bounce than normal but I wasn't sure. Then there was a noise. It kind of sounded like I was hitting the rumble strips they have on the roads. I looked at Carol and asked if she could hear it. She said she could. I decided to pull over.

I found a nice little spot to pull over. It was totally off the road. I opened my door and got out of my car. The first tire I looked at was the back driver's side tire. That was the one. It was completely flat. It went flat in about 2 minutes. I called Meg, who called her friend Wayne to come help me change the tire. Wayne arrived and he changed the tire, but I watched carefully so I could see how to do it should it ever happen again. After he changed it, we drove to Big O to have them look at the tire to see if it could be saved.

After Big O checked the tire, they found it could not be saved. I had driven on it too long while it was flat (which was no longer than 2 minutes). I ended up buying a new tire. Happy Birthday to me. The new tire seems to be working great. I still don't know what I hit or ran over to make my tire so flat. Thanks to Wayne and Big O for your help.
