So last Thursday was quire the adventure for me, and I can honestly say it wasn't very fun!
I had dropped of Kelsey at her house from Center Stage and was on my way home around 11 pm. I was approaching what looked like a turn. So I slightly step on the brake. The next thing I know the car is facing sideways and is sliding. Talk about scary. I had started to close my eyes. Then I told myself I couldn't because I was the driver. After what seemed like forever (in reality only a few seconds) the car came to a stop. I just sat there a few minutes. Then I put the car in reverse to see if I could get out. Nothing happens. The wheels just keep turning. So I go to get out of the car and see of I can dig myself out. I try the drivers side door, it doesn't open. So I crawl to the passenger side and open the door. I get out and the snow is deep. I'm not really sure how deep it was. So I go to the drivers side. I see all the snow. By hand I start trying to dig the wheels out. Or at least the back ones, I couldn't get to the front ones. So I get to the passenger side. The door was getting in my way. So I shut it, not realizing it would lock back up. I finish clearing the wheels as best as I can. I go to open the door and it won't open. It's then I realize it's locked, but I don't know why. So I sink to the ground and cry for probably 5 minutes. Then I get up and decide where to go. I decided to go back to Kelsey's house. Not realizing how close to Bristol's I was or else I would have gone there. So I walk and walk, singing primary songs and making up verses to Book of Mormon Stories. I cry a lot. And I pray a lot. I pray that I won't die and that Mom will not get to worried. Now note that I am only in a very thin jacket, jeans, and regular shoes. I walk and walk. I start to wonder why I haven't reached the turn off to Pugh's house yet. I can't see. There was no moon and I had no flashlight. So I was going on how the road was feeling and if snow was going over my shoes to judge weather or not I am even on the road. After a long time of walking the road becomes harder to walk on, and the snow gets deeper. I decide to turn back because I knew if I kept trying to go forward I wouldn't make it. So I turn around and start back towards the highway and Bristol's house. I walk for like a mile. Then I come to something like a 4 way stop. It is then I realize I totally missed the turn off for Pugh's house. So I turn up their road and walk towards their house. I've never been so happy in my life to see a cattle guard. Once I saw that, I knew I was on the right track. Then I come across a stable. The horses scared me to death, I positive I scared them too. I never really understood the meaning of light means hope until I was by that stable because there was a light pole. Happiness went through me when I saw it. So I keep walking. I never realized how much Pugh's were on a hill until then either. I finally make it to there house. So I go up to the door. I can't turn the knob because my hands are cold (imagine that, my hands being cold after walking 3 miles at night with no gloves). So I start pounding on the door. Nobody is answering. I keep pounding for a few minutes. Then I try the door knob again and get in. Tammy was coming down the stairs. I call mom and tell her that I'm not dead. About 15-20 minutes later Ken takes me back to my car. Then we go back to the house so he can get tools to break into my car and put it in park and get it unlocked and unstuck. Then we go back to the car and he breaks into it, puts it in park, and trys to dig me out. I sit in the car with Kelsey and babble. Ken comes back to the car 5 or so minutes later and asks me if I want to try to back the car out or if I want Kelsey to. I say Kelsey. So she tries and nothing. then we hook the car to a rope. The rope breaks twice. Finally Ken just takes me home around 2 am and goes to Thacker's to get a chain. I tell Mom a brief story and go to bed. Well I can't sleep. So I flip on my lap and open the New Era to a story. And guess what it was about. A car wreck. After I read this I try to go back to sleep. I didn't realize how cold I was until then. The next morning the car was back. I later learn that Ken went and got the chain and pulled the car out. Such a lovely night I had. I had hypothermia and I now don't leave the house without a cell phone. See Dad, all the more reason for you to get my one.
