I also attended FHE with Cam. Vernal and Roosevelt YSA wards met at the Bluebell Cornmaze for a night of fun. I had a great time. I think the last time I went to the cornmaze was when I was living in Price. They've added a lot to it. We had dinner consisting of pulled pork sandwiches, salad or coleslaw (I had salad), chips, and hot chocolate.
While sitting at the table, some members of Cam's ward sat down. One of them was Walt and Jennica's oldest (the one they adopted). I talked with her for a little bit. After dinner Cam and I went into the maze. We came upon a girl who was by herself and crying. She had been with a group that had some people jump out and scare them. The group left this girl. She had spilled hot chocolate all over her arm. I cleaned her up with a napkin and some water. Cam and I walked with her. At one point she grabbed and looped her arm in my arm.
She caught sight of her group and she took off (me being pulled along with her). When we got to her group, she asked them why the left and her and told them that was a mean thing to do. They put her in the middle of the group while Cam and I followed behind. At one point the trail forked to the right and left. The girl decided to go right and leave the group. When the group asked her what she was doing and why she was abandoning them, she responded with something along the lines of, "That's right, I am abandoning you and going with my new group." So Cam and I followed her. I have to give it to her, she had a good sense of direction and we made it out of the maze fast, like really fast. Cam and I made sure she made it to the pavilion and back to people she knew.
Cam and I went back into the maze and tried all the ways in and out. On our last trip in, we came across another person by himself crying. We tried asking him if he was okay. He was scared and kept backing up from Cam and I. I was able to give him a napkin for his face that was full of snot and tears. I didn't feel good about leaving him. At about that, a group came by and new him. They were able to convince him to go with them.
After we got out of the maze we wondered the grounds. We tried watching Ga-Ga ball and reading the rules. It sounds like a mix of dodgeball and soccer. We shot hoops with the basketball. I can tell it's been awhile since I've shot a basketball. We bought some kettle corn and went by the fire to eat it. The fire had some of the magic powder (I think that's what it's called) that makes the fire different colors. The people sitting at the fire told us to go into the red barn. Once in the barn we had to go to the middle, stare at each other for 20 seconds, and then try walking out. It was trippy. They had a light projection of some sort going around and it made you feel like the whole room was spinning/tilting. It was wild and a one time thing for Cassy who gets motion sickness.
After that we went back to the fire, ate some more popcorn before going back to Mom's to visit with the family for a little bit.
Thanks Cam, Vernal YSA, Roosevelt YSA, and Mark and Lori Monsen for a fun evening!
