The family got together to celebrate Mary's birthday a day late (Oct. 10). I invited Cam to come and join us. He brought Mary some dill pickles and some red pickles his family makes that taste like apples (at least that’s what he told us). The party started with dinner consisting of chicken pot pie and jello in a brain mold. When Mary first told her dinner, she told me we were having chicken pie and spiders. I imagined the spiders we made last year out of olives and chow mein noodles. When I told Cam, he imagined deep fried tarantulas. Don't worry, we just shaped the top of the crust of the chicken pot pie as a spider. Mary opened her presents after that. She got a nice haul with lots of halloween things. Then we had dessert. It was a skeleton cake (Meg and I found the pan back in September and thought Mary needed it). I took a video of us singing to her and Mary blowing out her candles, but as is the norm, Blogspot won't let me upload it just yet. I will keep trying.
All in all it was a fun day. Happy 37th Birthday Mary!
