YSA Devotional Jan. 2018

On Jan. 14, the Young Single Adults (YSA) had an amazing opportunity to go to Temple Square and the Conference Center To Hear Pres. Deiter F. Uchtdorf speak to us at a devotional. This was the first time in my knowledge that a YSA Devotional was held at the conference center. It was a success. There were over 20,000 YSAs there. You ask how I know? Well that conference center holds 20,000 and I overheard a staff member saying we filled the conference center and all the overflows in the conference center theater, the tabernacle, and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. That is a lot of people. Thank you Pres. and Sister Uchtdorf for the wonderful messages you shared!

Pres. Dieter F. Uchtdorf's message from Facebook (Summing up the Devotional):

Harriet and I were thrilled to be with you at tonight’s Worldwide Devotional for Young Adults. I want you to know that you are in our thoughts continually. We pray for you. We love and admire you.

In this age of instant answers—where seemingly absolute and unassailable knowledge is merely a Google search away—we sometimes get frustrated when answers to our most personal, important, and urgent questions are delayed. We lift up our hearts to heaven, and all we seem to get is a frustrating, spinning “wait cursor.”

Heavenly answers—eternal answers—are priceless. Receiving these answers often requires sacrifice, work, and patience. These answers are worth the wait.

It is by doing the five things we talked about tonight that you will be guided to your answers:

Understanding that God’s answers could come by many ways and in His time, and that they are worth the wait.

Have a little faith. You are important to God. Trust Him. Keep His commandments.

Be a disciple of Christ by doing the small things consistently and perfectly.

Listen to the trusted voices of family, friends, and Church leaders. Don’t worry about the discouraging voices of the world.

Make the best decisions by using heart and mind, listening to the Spirit, and giving honest effort.

I would love to hear from you. I invite you to share with me what you will do to find answers to those questions. I am eager to read through your comments.
