2 Nephi 1:21

I was reading in the Book of Mormon and came across this verse (2 Nephi 1:21). To preface, Lehi is talking/counseling his sons.

“… my sons, and be men, and be determined in one mind and in one heart, united in all things, that ye may not come down into captivity;”

I had the thought of being determined in mind, heart, and all things and how powerful it could be. If we know what we need to do and go forth with courage, trusting in ourselves, we can accomplish most things.

Then I thought about expanding that. What if we are united with ourselves, Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, our support system (family and friends), our wards and other members of the church, those we minister to (both assigned and not assigned), and with the people around us. What would happen then? I personally believe it would be amazing. We would be there to lift one another and help one another. We could find common goals. We can turn to that extra Heavenly help. We could do good, a lot of good. Goodness is light. That’s what the world needs right now, light. 

My goal is to become better at being determined in mind and heart so that I can be “united in all things” and not “come down into captivity”.
