Melon Days 2023

Sept. 16 was Melon Days in Green River, UT. Thayn's were Co-Grand Marshals of the parade. They wanted to show Green River they had lots of support (they are in the middle of some lawsuits) and invited anyone in the family to ride on the float in the parade. Mom, Mandy, Mary, and I did, along with Uncle Boyd and Aunt Mary from the family. Ross and Syviah had a friend and his wife and child ride on the float, along with Syviah's brother, his wife, and their child. Some of Gabby's (their main worker) daughters rode the float too. And of course, the Thayn Crew (Uncle Lee, Aunt Ann, Avan, Anna, Nathan, Amy, McKay, Kriz, KitKit, Isagani (not sure how that is spelled), Sydney, Kameron, Finley, Lincoln, Ross, Syviah, and Easton) were on the float or in the cab. Here are some pictures from various sources.

My cousin Ethan (Amy's son) is playing the clarinet in the band. He is in the middle of the front row.

Watermelon at the Park: The Yellow one is a Dunham Watermelon and the Red one is Uncle Lee's. I had never seen a yellow watermelon before. So I had to try it. It tasted okay, but nothing I would write home about (although I am a bit biased).
