The Best Christmas Pageant Ever/Duncan Goes Through the Temple

This past weekend turned out to be quite interesting. On Friday the 11th, Meg, Mary, and I visited Price to watch "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," where my cousins, Millie and Asher, were performing. Meg, Mary, and I had a great time watching the show and thought it would be a fun way to start the holiday season, even if it was a bit early. Millie and Asher were outstanding! Their roles were perfectly suited for them.

Asher: Charlie Bradley (Yellow Shirt, Top Row); Millie: Alice Wendleksen (Black and White Plaid Shirt Third Row); Megan: Community Member (Black Sweater, White Shirt, Bottom Row)

What I didn't know until I was watching the show was that my old roommate Megan was also in the play with her two daughters. They were so cute, especially during the scene where the community is putting on the pageant. Her daughters were part of the angel chorus and the youngest started to lead the music with the conductor, as if it was a real pageant. I know with my typing, I'm not quite capturing the moment, but trust me, it was funny and cute. Great job to all!

After the play, Meg, Mary, and I went back to David and Kara's for treats and socializing. Kate, Laird, and their kids came too. Duncan was going through the Provo temple the next day. They were coming half the way for that and to see the play. In typical fashion, we stayed up late talking. While visiting, Kate invited Meg and me to go to the temple session Duncan was going through. We both agreed. The night got later and later. Meg and Mary went home. I was finishing up a conversation I was having with Ethan. I looked at my watch and realized it was late (around 11pm). Everyone else realized it too and I was forbidden to go home (by Paul, Bel, Kate, Laird, David, and Kara). So I ended up staying the night.

I wasn't planning on staying the night. So I did not have anything with me, except my glasses and contact case. Luckily Kara and I are about the same size. I borrowed some PJs from her and also a skirt and shirt for the temple. They gave me a toothbrush to use, and I shared a bed with Lily in her room.

The next morning, the 12th, we had a big breakfast at Dave and Kara's. Paul was unable to go to the temple with us. He had to work. He came over that morning to get an update from Dave (they are both hospitalists for the Price Hospital). Anna and Corinne shared a bed/room that night. When they came into the kitchen and saw Paul, they asked him when he got there. He told Anna he had been there the whole time, and he slept on the floor in the bedroom they were in. He asked them how could they not remember it. He gave some "other details" about the night. He had Anna and Corrine going for a while before they realized he was teasing them. He had indeed gone home with his wife and kids to their own house.

Then we were off to the temple. Most of the Thayn crew rode in one car (Laird and Duncan had gone up before us). I drove my own car and Kara decided to ride up with me. Meg met us at the temple. The session was nice. I hadn't been in the Provo Temple since going with my roommates during my Provo days. After the temple, it took Kate, Laird, Ethan, and Duncan forever to come out. We were never able to get an entire group photo.

After the temple, we went to Spanish Fork to eat at Super Chicks. I had never eaten there before. I thought it was really yummy. Just know if you go, the fry size is giant. Kate and Laird paid for Meg's and my food. Between the 6 of us, we had 2 fries and still didn't finish them all. It was a lot, but really yummy. After that, everyone went their separate ways (Meg and I chatted in her car for like another hour before we left).

Congrats Duncan! So proud and excited for you. Thanks to everyone who helped make this weekend such a fun one!
