Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Mary came with me to see Charlie and Chocolate Factory on June 17. It was a lot of fun. I feel it is a combination of the 2 movies Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). It had much of the music from the 1971 film with more of the vibe of the 2005 film. They also updated what the children were known for/like i.e., TikTok star and one kid being addicted to his cell phone.

Some things I thought it were fun that happened in the show are the references to Warner Brother Cartoons and Wanda Vision. During the scene where the boy goes into the TV, they change TV channels to find him because he is Channel Surfing. As they switched the channels, the channels showed old Warner Brother cartoons i.e., Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird, Road Runner, etc.

I'm not positive that Wanda Vision was actually referenced, but I was definitely reminded of it. There is a door that opens to the scene where the chocolate television/channel surfing takes place. On that door is a sign that says WV which stands for Wonka Vision. However, my first thought was Wanda Vision. Which I thought was appropriate since part of Wanda Vision is each episode is based on a TV show from different decades.

It was a fun evening and I'm glad we got to see it.
