Nauvoo

Well this summer I went to Nauvoo with the Price Institute. We went on From May 6-12. It was an amazing week. I am so glad I could go. We had many stops on the way which we played Frisbee.
The leaders just let us loose to tour Nauvoo on our own. The next few pics are of 3 days of my touring.

This is the Mansion House. The RLDS Church owns it. You couldn't go inside unless you went on a tour.  I did later by myself and it is huge!

The Mississippi River

Of course we went to Carthage. It's about 30 minutes away. I didn't realize how small it was. I also learned that it was like a house with one room for the "bad guys". The sister missionary who gave us the tour was from Cleavland, Utah. That was fun to see one of your own people.

This is the room where the shots took place. The window is the one Joseph fell out of.

So I know this is a random picture but I didn't expect to see a Canada Licence Plate
Beautiful Nauvoo Temple. It is amazing in and out. I had the opportunity to do Baptisms for the Dead twice. Which doesn't happen to often. The spiral staircase was amazing. I want one.

We made it Adam-Ondi-Ahman. It is so green there. It's hard for me to think that the Savior and priesthood holders will all meet there, because there's not much there. We had a small devotional and had the chance to look around.

"Repent..."

Next we went to Far West. I hadn't realized there was suppose to be a temple built there. They have a memorial for it. Someday there will be a temple.

Corner Stone of Temple

Liberty Jail. As you can see the Liberty Jail is no longer there or at least no longer with the LDS church. So the built this model to show what it was like.

We stopped in Kansas City, Missouri to eat dinner at a church. The new temple was right next door. It had just opened for temple ordinances. The cool thing was the next morning we were able to do Baptisms for the Dead in it. That was on day 4 of operation.

So this is actually a spider and not a flower but I thought it looked cool.

Beautiful Sunset
The last stop on the trip was to Independence, Missouri. We stopped at the visitors center. I didn't get very many pictures of the center. But I think I got the most important one.
Next door the visitors center is the RLDS' Temple. I went with a group and took a self tour. It was very different. I am so use to the LDS Temples that it was weird. The feelings where way different.

I have to admit that this was cool. This is the inside of the spiral you can see from the outside.

I am so glad I decided to go on this trip. I am thankful for the early saints and what they went through. I never could have done it. Last I am thankful for a 14 year old boy who wanted to know what church was the right church!
